BACKGROUND
The Loretta's Legacy Foundation was established in the memory of Loretta De Rosa, a young, vivacious woman who lost a valiant battle with Mesothelioma, a rare form of lung cancer most often linked toAsbestos exposure. Loretta did not how or where she may have contracted this cancer, but the result was the same. Loretta was a 32 year-old healthy, athletic, non-smoker. Asbestos, although banned in the early 1980's, is still around us today in such things as insulation, ceiling tiles, fire-retardent coverings that pre-date the ban. We must increase awareness of this dreadful disease and try to eradicate this as a life-ending sentence.
MISSION STATEMENT:
Loretta's Legacy Foundation was established to create awareness of Mesothelioma and other forms of lung cancer unrelated to smoking, to fund further medical research in these areas and provide a support network for sufferers and their families.
